The S11 Surface Induction course includes six competencies, covering crucial skills for surface coal mining:
- RIICOM201E – Communicate in the Workplace: Develop effective communication strategies to ensure clarity and teamwork in workplace environments.
- RIIWHS201E – Work Safely and Follow WHS Policies and Procedures: Learn how to apply workplace health and safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
- RIIGOV201E – Comply with Site Work Processes/Procedures: Understand how to follow site-specific processes and procedures to meet operational standards and ensure compliance.
- RIIRIS201E – Conduct Local Risk Control: Gain the skills to identify, assess, and control risks in your work environment, reducing potential hazards.
- RIIERR205D – Apply Initial Response First Aid: Learn to apply basic First Aid principles during medical emergencies, providing care before professional help arrives.

Certification:
After completing the two-day training, you’ll receive a Statement of Completion. You’ll also be provided with a verification checklist that must be completed onsite.
Once you’ve submitted the checklist to Down Under Training, your certification will be complete. This certification demonstrates that you meet Queensland’s stringent safety and compliance standards, enabling you to work confidently in the field.
