RIISS00030 Explosion Protected Diesel Engine Systems Maintenance Skill Set (DES Refresher Course):
Course Introduction:
This DES Refresher Course equips trade professionals to maintain explosion-protected diesel systems in underground coal mines. You will focus on key skills to inspect, test, and maintain diesel engine components, ensuring compliance and safety.
Prior Evidence:
To enrol, you need:
- A copy of trade papers proving qualifications and experience OR
- A Statement of Attainment for any of the competencies, if available.
DES Refresher Course Overview:
The course includes the following seven competencies:
- RIIDES301D – Inspect, test, and maintain diesel engine systems and their ancillary systems: Learn to assess, test, and maintain diesel systems, ensuring safe operations.
- RIIDES302D – Inspect, test, and maintain joints on diesel engine systems: Focus on maintaining engine joints to prevent leaks and ensure safety.
- RIIDES303D – Inspect, test, and maintain cooling systems on diesel engine systems: Ensure cooling systems work properly to avoid engine overheating in harsh environments.
- RIIDES304D – Inspect, test, and maintain inlet systems on diesel engine systems: Manage air intake systems, ensuring controlled airflow and reducing risks in coal mines.
- RIIDES305D – Inspect, test, and maintain exhaust systems on diesel engine systems: Maintain exhaust systems to control emissions and meet safety standards.
- RIIDES306D – Inspect, test, and maintain safety shutdown systems on diesel engine systems: Maintain automatic shutdown systems, which stop engines during failures or hazards.
- RIIDES307D – Inspect, determine the cause of, and rectify excessive emission levels on diesel engine systems: Assess emissions, correct high levels, and comply with safety regulations.
DES Refresher Course Certification:
Once you complete the course, you will receive a Statement of Attainment. This confirms your updated skills in maintaining explosion-protected diesel systems.
Training Location:
Training is provided at the Down Under Training facility, located in Nexus Business Park, Paget, Mackay.
