Course Introduction:

The 11029NAT – Course in Firearms and Weapons Safety, provided by Pagan Firearms in Townsville, is approved for firearms licensing in Queensland. This nationally recognised course gives you the legal knowledge and practical skills to own, use and handle firearms lawfully, safely and responsibly.

Delivered in a single 8-hour day, this course covers weapons legislation, community safety and safe handling, giving you everything you need to apply for your Queensland firearms licence.

Who Should Enrol:

Anyone applying for a new Queensland firearms licence, or looking to add categories to an existing licence, should enrol. This course covers Category A, B, C, D, H and M firearms, crossbows and miscellaneous weapons — ideal whether you’re a first-time applicant or extending your current licence.

Firearms and Weapons Safety 11029NAT Course Overview:

Over one 8-hour day you will complete the core unit plus the elective unit(s) relevant to the licence category or categories you’re applying for:

Core unit:

  • NAT11029001 – Demonstrate knowledge of weapons legislation, weapons and community safety: Understand your legal obligations, safe storage requirements and responsibilities as a licensed firearm owner.

Elective units (choose the categories relevant to your licence):

  • NAT11029002 – Use Category A and B firearms lawfully, safely and responsibly: Learn safe handling, operation and storage of Category A and B firearms.
  • NAT11029003 – Use Category C firearms lawfully, safely and responsibly: Build the skills and legal knowledge required to lawfully use Category C firearms.
  • NAT11029004 – Use Category D firearms lawfully, safely and responsibly: Develop safe and responsible handling practices for Category D firearms.
  • NAT11029005 – Use Category H firearms lawfully, safely and responsibly: Gain the competencies needed to lawfully use Category H (handgun) firearms.
  • NAT11029006 – Use Category M (Crossbows) lawfully, safely and responsibly: Learn safe and lawful use of crossbows.
  • NAT11029007 – Use Category M (Miscellaneous Weapons) lawfully, safely and responsibly: Cover safe and lawful use of miscellaneous weapons classed under Category M.
